Crisis Resources

Idaho has a range of behavioral health crisis resources other than emergency departments that are available including youth crisis centers and the Idaho Crisis & Suicide Hotline (call or text 988) if you or someone you know is considering suicide or needs to talk.

If you feel you cannot keep yourself or your youth safe during an emergency, go to the nearest emergency department or call 911.

If you are considering suicide, in crisis, or need to talk, you can call or text 988 – the Idaho Crisis & Suicide Hotline, toll free 24/7.

Youth Crisis Centers

Idaho has a growing network of Youth Crisis Centers.

The centers provide a calm environment for youth aged 12-17 to de-escalate. The centers are also working toward expanding to serve younger youth. This gives parents and/or guardians time to re-group during crisis situations. These centers help young people who are experiencing mental health or substance use challenges that greatly disrupt their lives and negatively impact their families. The centers provide supports and services during the early stages of a mental health crisis before more intensive, costly, and restrictive interventions are required. Services for youth are 100% voluntary and free of charge. Walk-ins are welcome and no referral is needed. Stabilization is available for up to 23 hours, 59 minutes. Doors are open 24/7.
